School Meals

In House Catering

In April 2016, Benson Community School made the decision to bring the school kitchen services ‘in-house’. The benefits of self-managing our catering operation include:- Opportunity to improve the quality, choice and flexibility of menus, Total financial control To help Benson with this we employed a management company called Catering Management Consultants (CMC, please provide link to website https://www.cmcschoolfood.co.uk/). They offer support with aspects such as staff training, menu compliance & health & safety.

Benson complies with the school food standards. This means we must provide: high-quality meat, poultry or oily fish, fruit and vegetables, bread, other cereals and potatoes Benson can’t provide: drinks with added sugar, crisps, chocolate or sweets in school meals and vending machines, more than 2 portions of deep-fried, battered or breaded food a week We work on a 3 week cycle for our menus. This allows us to provide a variety of meals that caters for all the children’s needs. They are changed twice a year. Copies are provided below.

Paying Dinner Money

Here at Benson we use Cunninghams cashless system which recognises each individual pupil, holds individual cash balances, records cash spent and cash received on any specific date and time of day.

All monies will need to be entered on to the website https://www.ipayimpact.co.uk Each child will need to register their account to access this. Account details can be requested from the main school office. Parents only need to hold one account, which multiple children can be added too.

Dinner money should be paid on a weekly basis so the account is free of any arrears. Outstanding dinner balance reminders are sent out on a weekly basis as a gentle reminder to clear the balance, this is all carried out through Ipay.
